Specifies the quantity of items that will be posted as shipped from the service order line.
Each time you post the service order partially, the Qty. to Ship field automatically suggests to ship the quantity that has not yet been shipped. The value in the field is calculated as the difference between the values in the Quantity and Quantity Shipped fields.
Shipments are automatically created when you post, provided that the service order contains at least one line with a value in the Qty. to Ship field. This guarantees that you do not create shipments where the quantity is zero for all lines. For more information, see How to: Post Shipments from Service Orders.
Warehouse Handling
If the location on the service order line has been set up to require shipment processing, then the Qty. to Ship field is not filled automatically. In that case, picking and shipment posting must be performed from a warehouse shipment document. For more information, see How to: Pick Items for Warehouse Shipment.
If the location on the service order line has been set up to require pick processing, then the Qty. to Ship field is not filled automatically. In that case, picking and shipment posting must be performed from an inventory pick document. For more information, see How to: Pick Items with Inventory Picks.
Note |
---|
If the involved warehouse activity has not started yet, and you want to expedite an order by shipping and invoicing it directly from the service order, then you can still do so by entering a value in the Qty. to Ship field. If you bypass the warehouse operations in this way, then it is important that you cancel the warehouse activity in question. |
